Tracking and managing events on and off the route are essential aspects of fleet management. The ability to effectively handle both routine daily tasks and unexpected hazardous situations is crucial for fleet owners and managers, as it ensures smooth operations, enhanced safety and better asset control.
On October 10, we introduced a dedicated Tasks functionality to streamline task management, improve response times, and enhance oversight for fleet operations. It serves as a centralized hub that simplifies the process of managing tasks related to various vehicle events — whether for maintenance, compliance, or operational issues — providing users with a more efficient and organized workflow.

Empowering fleet owners with the new tool
Every day, Wialon registers tens of thousands events, from routine occurrences to speeding violations, fuel drains, and unauthorized departures from designated geofences. Some of these incidents require detailed analysis and further investigation by a responsible specialist.
However, without a centralized task management tool, specialists face the need to juggle multiple systems and manual processes, increasing the risk of errors and overlooked information. The lack of real-time visibility and unified tools limits users' ability to make quick, informed decisions, ultimately impacting fleet performance and reliability.
The Tasks feature was designed specifically to help fleet owners address these challenges. The new tool consolidates all tasks in one convenient interface and allows users to promptly respond to various events directly in Wialon, eliminating the need for third-party task management software. The ability to effectively review current and past tasks enables fleet owners to implement necessary corrective actions, preventing similar future violations and improving overall fleet performance.
Tasks in practice
Let's take a closer look at the capabilities the new feature has to offer.
All the necessary information in one place
Whenever an event occurs, it automatically appears as a task on a dedicated Tasks tab. The tab displays key information for each task, including priority, status, assignee, resolution, time, description, and the corresponding unit name. Users can also open the task card linked to view additional details such as location, comments, unit and driver information, geofences, and other data. The intuitive and easily navigable interface ensures dispatchers can quickly access essential information, providing greater visibility and control over fleet assets.

Various interaction options for tasks
Users can interact directly with tasks within Wialon, which enables them to review and edit key information, assign tasks to colleagues, adjust their priority and statuses, and leave comments. Certain operations, such as changing statuses or assignees, can be performed in bulk, allowing for efficient editing of multiple tasks simultaneously. Users can also execute commands directly from the task card or immediately contact the driver if needed. This ensures thorough tracking of each task throughout its lifecycle until it is resolved and closed.
Numerous available actions result in more convenient and efficient task management
Task history is accessible at any time
The tab collects and keeps information on all tasks, including new ones and those that have already been resolved or rejected, allowing access to a full history whenever needed. Users can sort tasks based on various criteria, such as date, status, or type, and review the details of each task, including the actions taken and the outcomes. This data provides valuable insights, helping identify patterns, evaluate dispatcher performance, and implement process improvements.
The ability to track the actions performed and revisit them if needed is crucial
